October Films embrace FLiP – Part 2

October Films embrace FLiP – Part 2

If you missed part 1 about October Films using FLiP to enable cloud editorial catch up here. Jon Hagan the Edit Supervisor for Spring Cleaning Watch (w/t) said we can share his thoughts two weeks in to using FLiP:

FLiP has been a real revelation as a cloud system so far – the seamless integration with the Avid ISIS storage means we can happily leave it working in the background and it’s low maintenance approach has not created any extra work for the edit support team. In fact it has enabled us to greatly cut down on machine hours that would normally be spent creating exports for edit producers to view away from the edit – they can simply log onto the cloud and view the rushes from any location. The potential for offloading transcoding duties to FLiP is fantastic too and could really help in situations where we have huge batches of file-based rushes to ingest. Productions are shooting increasing amounts of footage on varying cameras but still need a fast turnaround of media for their edits; with FLiP we can utilise multiple cloud licenses to deliver an efficient ingest pipeline and easily keep the edits up to date with the latest rushes.
