Ingesting Media – Avid Media Composer

Our current recommendation is to move all media management processes to Davinci Resolve, but if you are still ingesting any media these days with Avid Media Composer you should move to the DNxHR codecs. The beauty of this is that you can bring any frame rate in to any project and work natively throughout. We can then manage the mixed frame rate media appropriately for you in final post.

Below are the settings for offline, depending on storage space you can go with same as source, 1/4 resolution or 1/16th.

When it comes to conforming for final post production just switch over to same as source for the Raster Dimensions and DNXHR HQX for the video resolution. You can read our full guide on prepping for final post here.
