Walking the Americas

Walking the Americas

Final post: The Finish Line & Vaudeville

Client: October Films

Talent: Grade by Zeb and Online by Calum

Brief: Complete the grade and online for a 4 x 60-mins series in which explorer Levison Wood treks 1800 miles along the spine of the Americas from Mexico to Colombia.

How it was done: With the majority of the footage self-shot by the explorers, the main task for colourist Zeb Chadfield, using DaVinci Resolve, was to achieve a nice balance throughout and to use colour to indicate the time of day. He also embraced the vibrant colours of the scenery while highlighting significant changes brought about by the weather. For the online Calum Renaud used Adobe Photoshop to create the subtitles, captions and credits and then Resolve to assemble the elements. A collaborative workflow was established for this process with a shared database linked across a local network allowing Chadfield and Renaud to work on the same sequence simultaneously.

Watch it: Four episodes on Channel 4 starting from Sunday 8th January 2017.
