Our new Managing Director
We couldn’t be more excited to have Jonathan Blessley joining our team as Managing Director! He starts with us on the 5th of January and I for one am over the moon. When I started The Finish Line in 2011 I had a very clear idea of what I wanted The Finish Line to be and imagined my dream team. Jonathan was always the person I had in mind for MD of the business, there was never an alternative.
The Finish Line came from a desire to take a different approach to post production. I felt for years that the production industry and technology was changing so quickly but post production companies were all standing still and continuing to do things the same way they had for the past twenty years. When I set up the company it was very clear to me that the only things that mattered in todays post market was having great talent and keeping three steps ahead of technology. We must be doing something right with The Finish Line because the growth of the business has blown me away and it feels like a dream come true to be in a position to bring Jonathan in to take the reins.
I met Jonathan on my first day in London back in 2009. I had just arrived on the doorstep of my friends house with nothing but a backpack when he gave me a call, he was on the hunt for someone to come in for an urgent job so I dropped off my bag and jumped on the next tube in. He immediately stood out as a brilliant Post Producer.
Jonathan was a junior at the time but always went out of his way to understand every facet of post production. He didn’t just want to know the right things to say to his clients, he wanted to know exactly how everything worked while also understanding the potential problems and alternative workflows which meant he always knew what the best approach to a specific job was. To me, this was a really big deal, anyone who works at the technical end of Post Production knows there is no perfect workflow. Every job needs to be looked at independently so that a decision can be made on how best to approach it and this is something that Jonathan was on top of right from the start of his career.
He also has a work ethic that few possess. Every client he takes on he treats like family, he always wants the best for them and he cares deeply about every programme he delivers. I have never met a more passionate post producer and I know he is going to be a true asset to The Finish Line.
