Meet The Team | Lian-Sian Read
Welcome to the latest instalment of our meet the team series, which, as the title implies will dive into the background of the amazing people that make up The Finish Line. Meet Lian-Sian Read, who joined us last week!
Born and bread in south London, Lian has an ‘exotic’ mix of English, Welsh and Jamaican heritage. Some what of a tom boy growing up, she played every sport offered to her. Lian was even fortunate enough to be a ball girl at an England v West Indies cricket match at the Oval, but despite all of this potential Lian’s sporting career was unfortunately brought to a premature halt at the tender age of 16 when she had her first knee operation and was told to stop playing sports all together. Sad times for the promising athlete.
Lian then found her love for film and started pursuing a career in the media industry (well apart from the short time she wanted to be a physiotherapist but soon realised that she wouldn’t necessarily be rubbing the hunky wounded sports men as she had hoped). After graduating from Ravensbourne with a BA Hons in Broadcast Post Production, she landed a job as a runner in a very prestigious post house in soho. Originally drawn into the lures of becoming a Finishing Artist (and still secretly does) Lian realised that she was rather good with clients as well as being anally organised, and as such well suited to being a Post Producer.
Lian has worked at many established post houses in this role working on a variety on different genres such as Giant Screen for BBC Earth and Colossus Productions, films, documentaries and TV. She has a real passion for documentaries.
When Lian isn’t busy organising every detail of a client project, she is busy organising every detail of her next holiday.
We asked Lian what advice she would give to her younger self to which she replied:
Always be nice to the runner for they could be your boss one day!!
Note: Lian hates spaghetti bolognese, so please don’t offer this to her at any point in time.
