Brief – Create a cinematic grade for the ‘Real-life Thriller’ Hunted

How it was done – Utilising The Finish Line’s portable finishing systems, Colourist Zeb Chadfield graded the series in DaVinci Resolve 12. “Utilising the new 3D tracker and keyer we tracked and keyed the skin tones in to every shot in the Hunted HQ to give the hunters warmth and separation from the teal lighting used in this area. The fugitives were filmed with a variety of cameras which needed to be balanced, we also used a lack of saturation to emphasise trepidation when needed and added warmth when the fugitives had a momentary reprieve. To give extra depth to the ariel shots we vignetted by darkening, desaturating and adding mist to the edges, we then tracked this to help hold focus on the area of the frame we wanted the viewers attention on. With over 1000 cuts per show and almost 100% of them containing some combination of vignettes, keys and trackers there was a lot of fine detail work so it was a huge job but we managed to get it done, very very close to TX mind you.”
